Cameo,
just find a duration for a generation and play with figures, there's no limit to it.
i have been told by a jw that 36ce ends daniels 70 week prophecy, how do they work this out?.
i know the starting point is 455bce, but could someone elaborate?
the guy has stated it as matter of fact, it sort of smells like the 1914 prophecy to me, but may be i'm wrong.. paul.

In Daniel 9 : 24-27, 70 weeks (they calculate 7 x 70 = 490 years) are prophecied between the word to rebuild Jerusalem (- 455) and the end of the time the covenant has been kept in force (baptism of Cornelius, + 36) .
From Daniel 5 : 23 - 26, they understand that there are 7 times between the fall of Jerusalem (they say - 607) and God appointing Jesus as king in 1914 : On the basis of 360 day years, They (Fred FRANZ did) calculate 7 x 360 = 2520 years. 607 + 1914 - 1 (year zero thing) = 2520. Don't ask why they switch from 360 day years to 365 day years...
If those 7 times were calculated out of 365 day years, and assuming we keep the - 607 date as the start of the period of time, we would get 7 x 365 = 2555 years, and 1914 would become 1949 (607 + 1949 - 1 = 2555) as the beginning of the last days ! and if we agree with historians who say that Jerusalem fell in - 587, the last days began in 1969...
Just add 120 years to make room for anti typical Noah's days and you expect ARMAGEDDON FOR 2089, or 2069 (about the date Issac NEWTON foresaw) if you stick to - 607.
please prove to me i'm not posting in the graveyard shift....... besty and i were talking about password protected and family's exit this last few weeks.
we are full of admiration for the way that they have left with dignity and obviously made many think.
they have not faded, they had a good repuation until the very last moment - mark was an elder - but they stopped and made the decision to be up front and face the elders in a meeting.
I'm already quite satisfied having kept my two teenage children from being trapped in the WT organization, and my wife is not keen on attending midweek meetings without me, although I told her I will accompany her if she wants to attend. We still attend WE meetings, sort of weekly worship, not feeling comfortable with it, because we find we need to practice a christian religion and I've not seen a credible alternative so far. We also want to be able to say Hello and have a chat with JWs we come across on the street and occasionally have a cup of coffee or a meal with the few of them who may pop in our home. Each one manages his/her own parameters.
a jw contact in germany who is involved in international wt building projects said that jw in greece are upset.
the old bethel buildings there had allegedly become too small and jw in greece were in need of a new building, a bigger one.
when the new one was finished, the old buildings could not be sold.

i know he is on the gb, but i see his name mentioned in a lot of posts and never with any respect or reverence.. is he the senior member of the gb and is he somewhat the key figure?
?.
There must be a thread where AlanF recounts that he once had a phone conversation with TJ and he found him being honest.
first - yes - i am in uk and have no vote and possibly no right to overly criticise.
be that as it may i must comment that the candidates available for the us voters do not stand out as world leaders, neither are kennedys, eisenhowers, or even nixons.
is this choice the best that the us has to offer itself ?
This Czech minister is seemingly not one of the 2 or 3.

True, this is an opinion that is fairly common on this side, concerning past US presidents (including Kennedy whom, historians say, was an outright crook, having cheated on getting his university degrees, on his WW 2 heroic deeds and was allegedly shot by the mafia on account of having not carried out a previous arrangement with them). Now, can we safely say that all the heads of states that European countries produce are of planetary stature ? When a country produces 2 or 3 of those within a century, it can be satisfied, and they usually reveal themselves in war time, which thing we don't really need just to prove the point. IMO, this shared european opinion is due to the fact that we don't really know American political people and, to us, they look like second fiddles, which they likely are not. Another explanation, far less flattering, is that some of those pale presidents, guess who, have been mere puppets in businessmen's hands, being ready to start wars and send the country's kids to death just to secure oil supplies.
As for the current candidates, we can be entitled to think that McCain has disqualified himself and displayed his poor judgement when he chose Palin. Obama is another matter altogether. He represents intelligence in power (valid content can be wrapped in articulate rhetoric), America being reconciled with its history and, yes, he will be soundly supported by his brilliant wife. If only those nazy fools can be kept off his way.
the following three paragraphs are part of a startling new essay written by a well-respected poster on jwd.
he spent much time and money to gather proof of duplicity on the part of watch tower leaders.
marvin shilmer (not his real name) has given permission for me to put his entire essay on my website, www.watchtowerdocuments.com.
That double speech on the part of the WTS leaders is utterly despicable, specially when considering how they have commanded to JW children to abstain from saluting to the flag, singing national anthem, etc, making them targets to harassment. Of course, having ordered Malawyan JWs not to buy that party card while at the same time these leaders were so lenient with themselves is plainly criminal. In doing so, they showed that they were true heirs of Rutherford, who didn't hesitate to send German JWs distribute provocative tracts under Hitler's windows, knowing perfectly well about the retaliations that woud ensue, while he was warm, comfortable and safe in his californian residence. There will have to be a divine judgement for such individual and collective duplicity.
what the government gives to the people.. have you noticed or did you know, how many single women have babies that the government pays for?

I worked my way out of welfare, even dropping way below the poverty level to do it. As you keep bringing in income, your benefits go down,
Quite a courageous move, Purps. Indeed, public funded survival allowances provided to people who have been out of work for so long that they are not entitled to unemployment benefits anymore can produce pervert effects. When the beneficiaries want to go working again, they lose so many welfare benefits that they find themselves poorer than prior to their resuming work. That's why, in France, they are currently setting up a special public allowance that is paid to those who make the effort of going back to work. It is devised to make up for the income difference and make working whorthwhile. May be efficient but could turn out quite costly to the tax payer if generalized.

V,
The WTS has no doubt that Jehovah had something to do with the lion killing the young prophet. ยง 10 reads : "Jehovah was not pleased. When the deceived prophet finally got on his way back to Judah, a lion found him and killed him".
Still, the elder who conducted the study didn't seem to see the point. In good faith, he quoted a WT article back from 1962 where the society was holding the opposite view.
